Torrevieja – Salty Sea Breezes, Beachside Lifestyle & Everyday Sunshine

On the southern Costa Blanca coast is Torrevieja, one of Spain's most upscale and lively beach resorts, which is famous for its salt lakes, Mediterranean beaches, and laid-back year-round lifestyle. Once a humble fishing village, Torrevieja is now a thriving, multicultural seaside town that blends seaside charm with urban convenience.

In Serneholt Estate, we consider Torrevieja to be a vibrant option for sun worshippers, retirees, and families alike—cheap, easy to reach, and with a welcoming local community.

Location & Lifestyle: Where Is Torrevieja?

Torrevieja is around 45 minutes south of Alicante Airport, backed by the sea on one side and salt lagoons on the other. It is well connected by road and public transport and a Spaniard and foreign favourite.

The pace of life is relaxed in the town, living is affordable, and there is a lively lifestyle. Its residential areas range from lively beachfront ones like Playa del Cura y Los Locos to more quiet residential ones like Aguas Nuevas, La Siesta, and Los Balcones.

Torrevieja life means morning walks on the beach, farmers' markets with fresh produce, and a blend of international and local lifestyles. It gets more than 300 days of sunshine annually. Our Torrevieja office is right in the heart of town, making it easy to stop by whether you’re exploring the vibrant centre or heading to the seafront. You’ll find us at Calle San Pascual, 84, 03181 Torrevieja, just a short walk from the marina and the palm-lined Paseo Vista Alegre.

Dining: International Flavours & Local Favourites

Torrevieja is home to a diverse dining scene. Whether you’re craving classic paella, British fish and chips, Italian pasta, or Scandinavian fare—you’ll find it all. The marina area, Paseo Marítimo, and the pedestrianised town centre are packed with cafés, tapas bars, ice cream parlours, and restaurants.

Local restaurants like Mesón de la Costa, Timonel, and El Patio Chico offer genuine Spanish cuisine, while the urbanisations nearby have international cuisine to suit all tastes.

Shopping: From Local Markets to Retail Hubs

Torrevieja boasts a combination of old and modern shopping. Market stalls and day markets sell fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, clothes, and home goods with the ambience of the area. For something more contemporary, Habaneras Shopping Centre offers Spanish and international fashion, home decor, and cosmetics.

Supermarkets, pharmacies, opticians, and banks are within easy reach throughout the town. Shopping malls can also be found in close-by Orihuela Costa and Alicante for more options.

Healthcare: Well-Equipped and International

Torrevieja has very good healthcare, with public and private facilities within easy reach. Torrevieja University Hospital and Quirónsalud Torrevieja are highly rated, with multilingual care to meet the international residents' needs.

There are numerous clinics, dental surgery, physiotherapy clinics, and pharmacies open at night that provide easy access to routine and emergency care.

Education: Types of Schools for Residents and Foreign Families

Public and semi-private Spanish schools exist in the town, alongside international schools in the area, like El Limonar International School (Villamartín) and Newton College in Elche.

Early learning centers, bilingual schools, and after-school activities aid families in the area and expats in giving their kids a well-rounded education in a warm, stimulating environment.

Sports & Outdoor Living: Salt Air & Active Days

Torrevieja is built for an outdoor lifestyle. The Lagunas de la Mata and Torrevieja Natural Park is a haven for pedestrians, cyclists, and birdwatchers. Sportspeople have tennis clubs, padel courts, football pitches, and gyms throughout the complex.

Parks and seafront promenade are excellent for jogging, yoga, or strolling, and beaches like Playa de los Náufragos and Playa del Cura attract sunbathers and swimmers.

The marina offers easily accessible sailing, scuba diving, jet skiing, and kayaking, and golfers are minutes from excellent courses such as Villamartín, Las Ramblas, and La Finca.

Family Life: Community-Focused, Safe & Sociable

Torrevieja is a family-friendly town with parks, plazas, and pedestrian areas ideal for children. Aquopolis waterpark, funfair, and summer festivals ensure there's always something to do. Torrevieja's cosmopolitan mix of residents ensures the town is welcoming to new arrivals, and expat family support networks exist from across Europe.

Residential areas provide gated communities, pools, and communal gardens, offering secure and convivial surroundings in which to raise a family.

Why Serneholt Estate Clients Love Torrevieja

Our customers love Torrevieja because of its mix of affordability and sensibility. It is where retirees appreciate peace, digital nomads have connectivity, and families have space and comfort. The smooth infrastructure, great healthcare, and lively social life make it a preferred solution for full-year living.

Why We Love It

Here at Serneholt Estate, we love Torrevieja for its genuine warmth, easy lifestyle, and flexibility. It's a town that's simple to access in all directions—and whatever you're looking for—seafront apartment, family villa, or a buy-to-let with holiday possibilities.
