Where is Arguineguín?
Arguineguín is situated on the south‑west coast of Gran Canaria, about 30 minutes from the Island's airport. It lies in one of the best climates in the world, with mild temperatures and sunshine almost every day of the year. At its core, the town remains a working fishing port, with brightly colored boats bobbing in the marina and daily life revolving around the seafront promenade, town cafes, and lively markets. Life here is relaxed but vibrant, with precisely the right balance of Canaryan local life and established international community.
Dining: Fresh Fish & International Flavours
Arguineguín is renowned for seafood—local restaurants dish up some of the island's freshest fish, often caught that morning. Traditional Canarian eateries rub shoulders with international restaurants dishing up Mediterranean, Asian, and European cuisine. From grilled dorada on a harbourside terrace to tapas in a cosy backstreet bar, dining here is a feast of flavour and authenticity. Taste Meson is well worth a visit.
One of our other local favourites is located in the Ancora Center, Marino Chico. Try the courses that are flambe and dont miss out the Mexican Coffe.
Shopping: Local Markets & Everyday Essentials
The town offers all the amenities for daily life, with supermarkets, bakeries, boutiques, and souvenir shops. The weekly Tuesday market is one of the island's biggest, attracting locals and visitors alike for fresh produce, flowers, clothing, and crafts. More extensive shopping is offered by the nearby Puerto Rico and the capital Las Palmas, with larger shopping centres and designer stores.

Healthcare: Excellent Local Access
Arguineguín is very high service by health facilities, with local clinics, dental surgeries, and pharmacies within the town. More specialized treatment is provided at the island's main hospitals—both public and private—in Las Palmas, about 40 minutes away. Many healthcare professionals speak English and other languages, so the services are easily accessible to the international community.
Sports & Outdoor Living: A Haven for Active Living
The calm Atlantic waters make Arguineguín perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, and sailing. Its marina is a hub of fishing and boat excursions, whilst the local beaches are perfect for sunbathing and snorkelling. Inland, there are walking trails that twist through the hills, with stunning coastal views. Golfers are also well provided for with numerous local courses, including the scenic Anfi Tauro Golf. The mild weather permits outdoor activity year-round, from early morning promenade runs to beach yoga classes.
Family Life: Warm, Safe & Welcoming
Arguineguín is a great location for families, with a safe, welcoming environment and all the amenities necessary for easy day-to-day living. Schools, playgrounds, and parks are easily accessible, and the tranquil beaches are perfect for children. Accommodation varies from stylish apartments close to the marina to large villas with sea views. The Activity park from Angry Birds is a perfect place to spend time with your little ones a sunny day.
