Coastal Beauty, Natural Charm, and the Heart of Southern Spain
A 1 hour drive from Malaga airport or 35 minutes to Gibraltar Airport, Manilva is situated between Estepona and Sotogrande, and just minutes from the Cádiz provincial border, Manilva is one of the Costa del Sol's best-kept secrets. With its hilltop whitewashed village of Sabinillas, beach town of San Luis de Sabinillas, and quaint marina of La Duquesa, this area offers a more old-fashioned, grounded Andalusian way of life—and all the amenities of the coast on the doorstep.
Manilva is where sea winds greet vineyards and hilltop views stretch to Gibraltar's Rock. If you're looking for a relaxed year-round haven, a seaside holiday home, or a savvy investment in an emerging market, Manilva offers a setting of spaciousness, sunshine, and genuineness. At Serneholt Estate, we take pleasure in introducing clients to Manilva, a location to experience the true Costa del Sol—less sophisticated, more peaceful, and rewarding to the core.
Manilva enjoys a strategic yet peaceful location, just 25 minutes from Gibraltar Airport and under an hour from Málaga Airport. You’re close to everything—Estepona’s vibrant town centre is 15 minutes away, Sotogrande and its polo fields are next door, and the buzzing Puerto Banús scene is an easy coastal drive away.
Life here is slower in all the right ways. Even within the old village of Manilva itself, the pace is laid-back and local—morning coffees in the town square, weekend markets, and siestas in the sun. Down in Sabinillas, everyday life focuses on beach promenade, where it's locals taking a stroll, chatting, and an ice cream after dinner. A family-focused, international atmosphere, but very Spanish beneath. For the majority of Serneholt Estate clients, Manilva is the epitome of unpretentious indulgence and practical comfort.
Manilva cuisine is the star—fresh, unpretentious, and always enjoyed in good company. Chiringuites on Sabinillas and La Duquesa beaches serve from grilled sardines and seafood paella to cold drinks and sun-set sangria. On land, rustic charm of the town manifests itself in its bodegas and tapas bars, where local muscatel wine cannot be overlooked.
La Duquesa Marina boasts a more cosmopolitan eating scene with Italian, Indian, and Asian fusion restaurants, all in casual nautical settings. Wherever you eat on the seafront or curled into the hills with vineyard scenery, Manilva boasts a genuine and friendly food culture to match its community spirit. You will also find our Serneholt Estate office in the port of La Duquesa on Calle Boqueron. We would love for you to pop in to say hello, stay for a coffee or check out our library of books where you can pick out your favourites and have a read on your terrace, by the beach or in one of the cafes around the port.

Manilva gives you everything you need to live day-to-day without trouble. Supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, hairdressers, and bakeries are all located in Sabinillas, and the local towns of Estepona and San Roque provide more choice when needed.
Friday is market day in Sabinillas, transforming the town into a local tradition—Supplying seasonal fruits and vegetables, flowers, clothing, and handmade goods. For more serious shopping, La Cañada (Marbella) or Algeciras centres are just a short drive away. Our clients at Serneholt Estate report to us often about the joys of residing in an area where shopping is convenient, personal, and never overbearing.
Manilva is covered by both private and public health centers. Sabinillas contains a local health center (Centro de Salud) providing primary care, and there are a few private clinics and dental surgeries in the town. Specialist and emergency care in various languages can be found in the Hospital de Alta Resolución in nearby Estepona, and in the Quirónsalud hospitals in Marbella or Campo de Gibraltar.
We understand that for retirees and families as well, healthcare is a high priority—and in Manilva, we at Serneholt Estate are happy to be able to inform clients that care is never inaccessible, and always reliable.
Manilva is growing in popularity with young families for its safe environment and proximity to schools. Local state schools are good, and various international schools are within reasonable reach. Sotogrande International School and The British School of Marbella are near by, and Spanish bilingual academies and nurseries are in nearby villages.
From a local village school to an entire international curriculum, Manilva gives families options and reassurance. We tend to have moving families who are drawn by the warmth, space, and welcoming community feel of the region at Serneholt Estate.
Manilva is ideal for nature enthusiasts. The seafront promenade in the town is perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling and observing the sea close by. Beach yoga, swimming, and water sports are daily activities, and the vineyards and hills surrounding promote hikes, trail running, and horseback riding.
Golfers too are well catered for, with venues like La Duquesa Golf and Finca Cortesin just minutes away. There are padel and tennis clubs, gyms, and the marina for sailing enthusiasts within reach. The area also has open-air events and festivals all year round, so Manilva is always an active, outdoor-based community whatever the season.

Manilva provides room to breathe for families. It's a place where kids are safe to play, where neighbors are acquainted, and where life is led at a more leisurely pace. Most homes here—whether contemporary apartments or historic fincas—have outdoor space, terraces, and gardens, perfect for those who want a healthier, more free-spirited life.
From after-school activities to beachfront playtime and weekend hikes, Manilva delivers quality of life for all generations. At Serneholt Estate, we’ve helped many families and retirees discover Manilva—and they often say they only wish they had done it sooner.
Our buyers love Manilva for its character. It's a place where life is simpler, where your money goes further, and where every day is sun, sea, and chill-out. Whether buying a Spanish first home, relocating for family life, or investing in the future, Manilva always hits the mark with its value, integrity, and charisma.
At Serneholt Estate, we love Manilva because it's real, genuine, and wonderfully modest. With its hillscapes dotted with vineyards, brilliant coast, and welcoming locals, it's a place that feels like home.
If you're looking for a seaside setting with Andalusian character, smart investment prospects, and plenty of space to relax and catch your breath—Manilva might be your place.
