Situated just 10 mins from the white-washed pueblo of Casarabonela within the Sierra de las Nieves Reserva de la Biosfera, the property sits centrally in its extensive plot with the immediate surrounds of Mediterranean garden, olive grove, terracing and graveled parking securely fenced and gated.
The building is finished to a high standard, retaining the Andalucian feel but with an undeniable quality, and comprises a 2 bed 2 bath house with a self-contained annex which provides the 3rd double bed/sitting room with ensuite shower room, benefiting from independent direct access to the terrace and pool – just perfect for those guests clamouring to visit.
The main house has a partially open kitchen to the double aspect lounge and dining area fronting the terrace and views, plus a useful mezzanine with access to a large walk-in roof store. A glazed door leads onto a covered patio area providing year round alfresco relaxation whilst enjoying those superb views. Off the spacious hallway are doors to a utility/store room, guest shower room/WC, two double bedrooms, both with fitted wardrobes, and a family bathroom.
Telephone and electricity are connected, as is wireless internet/TV. An underground septic tank provides sewerage facilities, and excellent quality well water comes from one of the mountain springs Casarabonela is noted for.
Casarabonela is located at the foothills of Sierra Prieta, part of the Sierra de las Nieves. The air is clean and the views are stunning, due to the elevated position of the village. It is an ideal base for outdoor- and nature lovers. Hiking, biking, horse riding or just a walk through the mountains and forest, with views over the Guadalhorce valley and even the ocean, are the perfect way to relax and enjoy the piece and quietness of the beautiful surroundings.
Walking through the narrow whitewashed streets, you will discover the Moorish soul, combined with Christian elements and Roman remains. The village has a central church and many plazas and outside terraces where you can enjoy sunshine, local tapas and a drink. Also at night you can join the locals for a drink in one of the bars. They have the usual Andalusian customs and events; the annual feria, procession and a unique Easter celebration. Olives play a big part of their economy, which comes as no surprise when you see the olive groves surrounding the village.
At the highest part of town, the remains of the Arab Castle Casarabonela are visible, besides its historical value it is an exceptional viewpoint! The botanic garden (Jardin Andalusi) of Casarabonela is well known for its collection of cactus plants, there are 2.500 species from all over the world.
Surrounded by mountains, there is one road into the village and one road out. Casarabonela is a bit further off the beaten track, but still located only 40 minutes (47 km.) from Málaga and the airport. The beaches of the Costa del Sol are a 45 minutes (62 km.) drive.
